Although the all-new GMC Sierra All-Terrain HD Concept won’t be making its official debut until January, the folks at PickupTrucks.com already had a chance to get a close look at the truck. Best of all PickupTrucks.com’s Mike Levine got a guided tour of the truck with Lead Designer Carl Zipfel.
Check out the two videos below to get a closer look at this rugged truck. A NY RV Dealer told us they’re hoping it gets the green light for production, but there has been no word yet. Let’s hope that changes as more information becomes available closer to NAIAS. [click to continue…]

The “New GM” appears to be a little more concerned these days with compacts and MPG. But, at the Detroit Auto Show next month, GM will show the GMC Sierra All Terrain HD off-road truck concept which boasts plenty of “Old GM” attitude.
The Sierra All Terrain HD is a very large, and very bold, off-roading machine that seems to be aimed directly at the Ford F-Series Raptor. Although it’s based on a 2011 Sierra HD pickup, this concept also receives heavily re-tuned suspension to handle rugged terrain. [click to continue…]

GM’s Lansing Delta Township assembly plant, located in Lansing, Mich., was opened just five years ago, but time doesn’t stand still—and neither does General Motors. The automaker is investing another $37 million in the plant to update the tooling and equipment needed to keep GM’s full-size crossovers ahead of the competition.
“This investment is the result of the commitment from the employees and leadership at Lansing Delta Township,” said GM Manufacturing Manager Gerald Johnson. “Their dedication to building high-quality products competitively is why we are investing in their future.” [click to continue…]

Not just a name from the division’s storied past, today’s “roadmasters”—a.k.a. some very innovative Buick engineers—take an innovative digital approach to ensuring today’s Buicks offer a premium driving experience regardless of conditions.
For example, these Buick researchers have now developed a unique scanning device that can “read” the road in the same way a photo scanner analyzes a document. The result is a highly detailed, three-dimensional digital version of the road, which is then used to test equally detailed digital representations of the latest Buicks. The road scanner uses a number of cameras and a laser to create the digital road, which is accurate to within 1 mm of the real thing. [click to continue…]

General Motor has announced the addition of eAssist technology for the Buick LaCrosse. The system utilizes a 115-volt lithium-ion battery and 15-kilowatt electric motor to boost fuel economy by 25 percent compared to the standard four-cylinder LaCrosse. The end result is an estimated 25 mph city and 37 mpg highway.
When the 2012 Buick LaCrosse accelerates, the electric motor delivers 15 horsepower and 79 pound-feet of torque to help propel the vehicle before the gasoline engine turns on. During acceleration, the eAssist system engages once again. Additional fuel-saving tech includes a fuel shut-off feature, regenerative braking, and a start/stop system. The powertrain is mated to GM’s Hydra-Matic 6T40 six-speed automatic transmission. [click to continue…]

While plenty of folks enjoy being in seventh heaven or up on cloud nine, most people want nothing to do with poor old number 13. Yet even hard-core triskaidekaphobics may change their thinking after learning what a big part those digits played in a recent General Motors success story.
According to Used Car Dealer Albuquerque, when the team at GM’s Flint (Mich.) Assembly facility sent a 2011 GMC Sierra Denali 3500HD down the line recently, it became the 13 millionth vehicle to be built at the storied plant—and the 13th GMC truck to be owned by the same loyal customer. Packing all of the power one expects from a Professional Grade pickup, the Sierra Denali was kitted out with a robust Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine that makes up to 397 hp and a staggering 765 lb.-ft. of torque. That powerplant is then mated to a durable Allison 1000 six-speed transmission, creating a workhorse truck that can tow up to 21,700 lbs. and boasts a 6,635 lb. payload. The folks at Boat and RV Savannah consider that to be an impressive feat! But it does so in high style, thanks to a full range of Denali accouterments. Among them: The trademark Denali four-bar chrome grille with round air inlets, body-color bumpers, chrome door handles, chrome accents, and a choice of 17-, 18- or 20-inch polished/forged aluminum wheels. The GMC Acadia has long been a popular choice among drivers looking for a Professional Grade eight-passenger SUV. In fact, more than 45,000 customers bought an Acadia during the first eight months of 2010, resulting in a significant 19.3 percent sales increase as compared to the same period last year. And now GMC is ready to take those sales numbers to the next level with the 2011 Acadia Denali, which takes comfort and convenience to the next level, too.
The “Denali” name has developed a strong following as the ultimate reflection of GMC’s precision-engineered lineup, already adding significant upgrades to the GMC Yukon, Yukon XL and Sierra product families. And the success of those models made the decision to launch the Acadia Denali a simple one. [click to continue…]

Despite all the many options out there, there are still plenty of jobs for which a hard-working full-size van remains the best choice. And with the 2011 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana now available with fully integrated compressed-natural gas (CNG) systems right out of the gate, the best have gotten even better.
In fact, Chevrolet and GMC are now the only full-line brands to offer a “check-the-box” CNG option for vans, which is an important benefit for today’s GMC Kansas City fleet owners. [click to continue…]
