In addition to the all-new 2011 Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty, General Motors has also redesigned the GMC Sierra Heavy Duty. For 2011, the Sierra HD not only receives improved looks and more power, but also adds the luxurious Denali trim, giving this full-size truck the ultimate blend of capability and premium features.
Even without the Denali trim, the 2011 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty manages to exude a little more sophistication than its Chevrolet counterpart – even despite the fact that both trucks are largely identical. Standard power with the 2011 Sierra HD is a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 making 360-hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six speed automatic transmission. Buyers can also choose a 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8 which produces 397 horsepower and a staggering 765 lb-ft of torque and mated to an all-new Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission.
Other similarities between the 2011 GMC Sierra HD and the Silverado HD include best in class towing and payload of 20,000 lbs and 6,335 lbs respectively. These two trucks even feature the same 2500HD and 3500HD trim variations. These trucks have long been sought after at Pittsburgh GMC because they provide the ultimate work vehicle, but with the new Denali trim they also will add a hint of luxury.
Unlike the Silverado, the 2011 GMC Sierra Denali HD has fewer body configurations to choose from. Buyers can also have this model with the 2500HD chassis and a Crew Cab with a standard box configuration.
“The new Sierra Denali HD is the latest expression of GMC’s Denali philosophy of blending capability with premium features and styling,” said Lisa Hutchinson, GMC product marketing director. “It is a premium tool that offers many comfort and infotainment features, along with a maximum towing capacity of 15,600 pounds with the segment’s most powerful diesel – that’s enough to tow a 34-foot-long, three-axle travel trailer.”
The all-new 2011 GMC Sierra Denali HD trucks go on sale early this summer. Despite the auto sales roller coaster in the last few months, heavy-duty work trucks continue to see demand, and according to monthly truck leasing Bremerton, WA specialists, the newest GMCs will likely satisfy the needs of work truck customers.
If demand for Florida commercial trucks is any indication, work trucks will continue to be on an upswing as the economy thaws. Naturally, GMC aims to be as competitive as possible as demand for versatile trucks grows.
